Umpire Expectations
Our umpires play a vital role in creating a positive and fair baseball experience for players, coaches, and families. All Corona Pony Youth Baseball umpires are expected to follow these guidelines:
Professionalism

Arrive at the field at least 20 minutes before game time.

Wear the proper uniform and protective gear.

Be prepared with the knowledge of league rules, Pony Baseball rules, and age-division modifications.

Conduct yourself with fairness, confidence, and respect at all times.
Game Management

Start games on time and keep play moving at a steady pace.

Enforce rules consistently and without bias.

Maintain control of the game while using clear, calm communication.

Handle disputes professionally; final rulings are to be made respectfully but firmly.
Communication

Speak respectfully to managers, coaches, and players.

Do not engage with fans or respond to spectator comments.

Explain calls when appropriate, but avoid prolonged arguments.
Safety and Responsibility

Prioritize player safety above all else.

Stop play immediately if a dangerous situation arises.

Be alert and attentive throughout the entire game.
Commitment to Growth

Attend trainings, meetings, and evaluations provided by the league.

Welcome feedback from umpire coordinators and league officials.

Strive to improve skills, positioning, and rule knowledge.
Incident Reports
If any issues arise during a game, they must be documented on an Umpire Incident Report. Forms are available at the snack bar and should be completed as soon as possible after the game.
